ns3-iboran is an ns-3 module for intent based Open Radio Access Network (Open RAN).
ns3-iboran provides a comprehensive tool to design and simulate intent-driven Radio Intelligent Controllers (RICs) within the Open RAN architecture, built upon the proven ns-3 network simulator. It enables direct, real-time control of Physical Layer (PHY) and Medium Access Control (MAC) functions through an external Python-based controller environment.
ns3-iboran bridges high-performance ns-3 C++ simulations with Python-based policy implementations using shared memory interface, achieving sub-millisecond latency for real-time decision-making.
This architecture supports both non-real-time (non-RT) and near-real-time (near-RT) RIC implementations, enabling intent-driven, semantics-aware exchange of Service Data Units for diverse use cases.
ns3-iboran is developped by Orange within the ANR COMSEMA project, supported by the French National Research Agency.
